The Sedile overlooks the ruins

The Sedile Building seat of Major,
and the ancient Chapel of San Marco.
The edifice, which overlooks the Roman
Amphitheatre, is another of Piazza Santo
Oronzo’s wonderful work of art. It is the
Sedile of Lecce.
Thanks to the venetian Mayor Pier Mogenico the Sedile was built in 1592 by the architect Gabriele Ricciardi and remained the seat of the Lecce city council until the end of the 19th century.
Next to it stands the little church dedicated to San Marco.
